Evolution Before Genetics
Charles Darwin’s The Origin of Species was published in 1859. He theorized that variations in nature (mutations) were randomly inherited.
Gregor Mendel established the basis for modern genetics in 1900. He showed that variety was not random, but produced in predictable patterns.
