The Historical Accuracy of the Bible

Carl Aardsma
Apologetics Symposium
December 4th, 2019
Cedar Park Church Bothell, WA

Description:

God moved in history. He dealt with His people in real life settings and He inspired men to keep records of it for our benefit. While the Bible is not a history book, it contains a great deal of history. If that record cannot be trusted, how can we depend on any of the other things recorded in the Scriptures to be the reliable message of God to us as it claims to be? Fortunately for us, for over 200 years, archaeologists have been digging and making amazing discoveries relating to this very question.

What will be presented in this fast moving and entertaining 90 minute presentation will be designed to encourage and strengthen your faith in God's inspired Word, but, more importantly, to help equip you to "be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear." (1st Peter 3:15) You will have facts and findings ready to share so you won't be left flustered and scratching yours SCALPS in confused bewilderment when asked, "How can you trust those Bible stories?"(Note: SCALPS is the outline we will develop in the seminar.)

About the Speaker:

Carl AardsmaBorn in Grand Rapids MI in 1953 and raised in a pastor's home, I have been actively involved in church ministries for over 50 years. I was lead to a personal faith in Christ as a result of my father's preaching by my mother at our home at the age of 4 1/2. I felt called to teach from childhood and was trained for that career at Grand Rapids Baptist College (now Cornerstone University) and graduated from Western Michigan University in 1975. In 1976, I was fortunate enough to marry Alleen, and we have raised 4 children, and now enjoy 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. In 1977 we moved to Washington to answer God's call to teach in a Christian school. After 25 years of teaching a wide variety of subjects, but primarily Bible and history, I left full time teaching in 2003. But I have continued to stay actively teaching in several ministries at my home church, Evergreen Baptist of Shoreline, including the Sunday morning Adult class, the Men's Ministry, and the Nursing Home Ministry. In all my teaching, apologetics has been a passion for we serve a great God who has clearly made Himself known.

Apologetics Symposium

The Apologetics Symposium is an educational program addressing the conflicts that exist between naturalism and the Biblical worldview. As part of a weekly Wednesday evening series, this program features a different speaker each month. Join us at Cedar Park Church or through our live webcast.
